My View from Tent Hill
How How to Our CRS Selectors Around the World
One constructs a building one brick at a time. The whole is inevitably greater than the sum of the parts. At CRS, we build a community one member at a time. The whole at CRS is astounding! Our alumni know better than anyone how powerful an experience this is in terms of both process and outcomes.
We have now assembled our CRS-2012 building blocks. Thanks to our selectors around the world, we have amassed an array of individuals from 28 different nations and 12 different regions of the U.S. who soon will contribute to the magic of community-building. Each group adopts and adapts our selection process to their own culture and needs. But the task of selection is the same: find young people of intelligence, character, concern for others and the potential for leadership and send them to us.
What they will have in common on the first day are excitement, nervousness and willingness to participate in something as yet unknown, but with the potential to be transformative. What they will have in common on the last day are intellectual and artistic growth, leadership ability, a respect for diversity and a commitment to make their communities better in some way.
They also will have formed a new family with which they will remain forever close. They will have shared challenges, feelings, fears and triumphs in ways that grow and nurture mutual affection and loyalty. They will have a bond that is unalterable.
None of this would be possible without the caring, attentive, time-consuming hard work of our selectors. You consistently send us extraordinary young men and women who, in turn, often become extraordinary selectors themselves.
How, how to you all. And thank you, most deeply and sincerely.

A great pleasure to see the foundation of Chinese Alumni Association. Thanks for all your efforts guys :)
A hearty CRS welcome to our newest Alumni Association. We look forward to many years of continued collaboration with you--not only to continue sending us outstanding campers, but helping to strengthen the Jonas Foundation and its activities worldwide.

The situation here is really difficult and totally uncertain. The only thing that's left is hard work and hope. I try to think positive. I am sure that I am ready to face every difficulty in my life. This is what CRS has taught me!!!

What zone of the cover are we designing?
Would you like a letter-sized design for the whole cover, or a design on a letter-sized sheet of paper to be used on the lower half of the cover?
I'm eagerly anticipating seeing all of the submissions!
Alan, you are the man. If you're ever in South Carolina you have a home.
Anthony- Great question. Designs should fill the space of a standard 8 1/2 in. by 11 in. page. Designs may be in color or black and white and may include photos, hand-drawn images and/or any other graphic or text. The recommended image quality is 300 DPI (dots per inch) at 9 1/2 in. by 12 in. size. -Helene Mattera

I meet Viggo first time as a 15 year old boy being interviewed for the Rising Sun scholarship at his home in Århus. He ran the interview with great authority but his questions revealed a genuine interest in the young boy in front of him. An interest that continued after my return from camp. It was the start of a 30 year friendship and I already miss him terribly!

After graduating from college I was given an AMAZING opportunity to work at Stendis and meet this amazing group of alumni who brought CRS/E to reality. I refer to that summer a lot in my professional life now. Viggo shared a deep passion for CRS, and inspired me to take more initiative in all things important. I am glad and thankful to have learned from him what it means to be a Sachem for life.
